Blueberry and pomegranate are winning smoothie combination. There’s a reason you hear
a lot about their health benefits in the news. Both contain a plethora of vitamins and
nutrients, but are best known for their abundance of antioxidants.
The antioxidant power of pomegranates is on par with green tea and red wine, plus they
are particularly rich in vitamin C and potassium. Pomegranates are known to help:
- Achieve and maintain a healthy weight
- Reduce cholesterol levels
- Lower blood pressure
- Heart health (protects the arteries)
- Aid in preventing cancer (breast and prostate in particular)
- Improve digestion
The recipe below calls for pomegranate juice, organic if you can, but you could just as
easily use pomegranate seeds. If you go with the latter, make sure to blend a little longer
than normal unless you like chewing on little pomegranate seeds or juice it.
Recipe
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup pomegranate juice
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 TBSP lemon juice
Add-ons
Ice cubes
1/2 cup Greek yogurt
